NEL WHATMORE

Nel has specialized in painting pastels for many years, enjoying the rich vivid colors and spontaneity of the medium. Vivid colors and a fascination with natural form and line have influenced her fine art pieces and brought her many devoted fans the world over

After leaving college her work was published by the UK’s foremost fine art publisher, Washington Green. Other companies, such as Royal Worcester and Pimpernel, soon began to use Nel’s work on their products. She has been nominated for Best Published Artist in the UK three times and has appeared on TV in the UK on numerous occasions, most notably on Richard and Judy’s Celebrity Art Club.

Nel’s interior decor is an eclectic mix of the new and the old. Contemporary art and ceramics rub shoulders with family heirlooms and treasured childhood objects. It is a soulful, creative place to live with something interesting in every corner. Her roots have given her a keen and particular interest in textiles and design. Nel is unusual in that she is both a fine artist and a designer, and is happy to keep a foot in both camps.

Three years ago, she was invited to exhibit at the world famous Chelsea Flower Show in London. There, she was thrilled to be treated to a special visit from HRH the Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall on the Royal Gala preview night. Twenty-two years earlier, Nel had received a grant from the Prince’s Youth Business Trust.
