I have four intentional words that have been very meaningful to me: Love, Joy, Grace, and Inspire. Love with all of who I am, let myself be vulnerable to love and all the goodness that comes with it. To find Joy in everyday, so simple and straightforward, yet there are days this can be hard. Grace for myself and others, true empathy and compassion for everyone’s journey. To Inspire, my greatest quest, and to be inspired with an open heart and mind. This collection is a celebration of 25 years of designing, and who I am as an artist now. I have discovered, through my intentions and journeys that my creativity has guided me in: Finding me Finding love in life Finding grace in chaos Finding joy in little things Finding inspiration in everyday My desire is to create beautiful work that has a deeper meaning if you pay attention. The olive branch symbolizes peace ... For me, peace with who I am and where I am at everyday .... Good days and bad. The swallow represents coming home .... Coming home is coming home to love yourself, warts and all. Jasmine symbolizes purity, beauty and new beginnings ... for me, the purity of thoughts, love for oneself and the beauty of life. The feather symbolizes trust, honor, strength, wisdom, power, and freedom. To trust oneself, honor your journey, to find strength in the darkest days, the wisdom to differentiate the anxiety from what is real, the power to own who I am and the freedom that comes with this work.

Beautiful blues! From intense deep indigo to the lightest tints of ice blue to vast cerulean skies and from the warm azure water lapping the Mediterranean coastline to moody grey-blue, stormy oceans, there is a hue of blue for every mood. I adore this omnipresent colour that envelopes our world day and night. Dusk is my favourite time of day — the twilight zone when the sky’s colours shift after the sun’s setting, and before night closes in. Time is suspended for a little while as colours deepen from a pale tint to petrol blue, before turning into an expanse of deep blue velvet sprinkled with stars. In French, it is known as “L’heure bleue.” This resonates with me so I chose it as the name of my 2024 FreeSpirit fabric collection inspired by the colour blue.

Travel to Italy along the beautiful Amalfi Coast this summer with Stacy Peterson’s new collection “La Dolce Vita!” to experience “The Sweet Life!” Big, bold sunflowers in yummy yellows and oranges are tightly placed together into a non-directional print making a super-sized, sunny statement to start off this tour! Wind along the coastal highway, you will see colorful homes built high up on the cliffs overlooking the blue Mediterranean waters. Imagine the views. Dotting the shoreline down below is a delightful array of striped beach umbrellas keeping the tourists cool. At the top of Capri, you’ll find an old villa surrounded with palms and Italian cypress displaying statues from Rome’s past. Along the way up, there are little groves of fresh citrus - especially lemons. An oversized stripe mixed with a strand of lemons reminds us of the elegant restaurants with striped shades and fresh food. Stop by the shopping district and you’ll notice boutiques overflowing with hand-painted ceramics and tiles from local artisans on the texture of the cobblestone streets. The tour has come to an end. Before you leave, drop a postcard in the mail to say “Wish you were here!” and don’t forget the stamp! Ciao!

To make sure that our quilts are not only pretty but also carry messages of love and affection, I’ve created fabrics that can be used to carry these sentiments. I was interested in the language of flowers, which was once used by lovers to communicate their thoughts and emotions... The Victorian era was full of these delicate pictures and floral cards. The world of William Morris and Beatrix Potter were also ideal sources of inspiration for expressing the symbolism of the era: highly decorative compositions, animals serving as messengers, graceful hands expressing friendship, hope and benevolence. Isn’t this a wonderful way of communicating — through bouquets? So why not incorporate it into our quilts? You too can compose messages for those you love: for new babies, for visitors coming into your home, for friends going far away, and for cherished grandmothers... It will make your work all the more precious.

LINEAGE is the collection that arrived after spending a summer making lines and playing around with the question, ‘When does a line become a stripe?’ The patterns that resulted from those explorations became a diverse compilation of drawings and collages, reveling in the beauty of a line, whether it be simple or complex. Then, thinking about the infinite ways those individual lines could evolve into stripes. During the making of the collection, I came to appreciate that one line alone can’t be a good stripe. Stripes by their very nature are pieces gathered, like families, standing side by side, making and taking up space together in a community. This collection is also a promise fulfilled to my cousin Sarah, an amazing quilter and the ultimate lover of stripes. Years ago, she asked me to create a stripe pattern, and from that one ask LINEAGE was born. To Sarah and stripe lovers everywhere, this is for you.
