Sona Thorburn is the owner of Bernina World of Sewing, Raleigh and Wilmington NC. I am the store manager of our Wilmington, NC location, which we opened in July of 2020! I moved to the Wilmington area late in 2019 and was so happy to get to meet Sona and open the new store with her. Prior to moving here, I lived in the Finger Lakes and worked at Patchwork Plus, where I met Liz Dougherty (FreeSpirit US Sales Manager). I have been working with FreeSpirit Fabrics now for 10 years. Liz introduced me to Anna Maria Horner’s work many years ago and I have been a huge fan of her work ever since. We were very fortunate to have Anna Maria come to our Raleigh store this November to give a great lecture and teach two classes. I feel so lucky to be included in this program where we are given the opportunity to create with some of the best fabric in the world!
